Couples Therapy

Couples therapy tends to have a higher success rate when both partners are willing to participate in the therapeutic process. However, if only one person in the relationship is going through treatment, they can still have an indirect influence on the relationship dynamic by working on their own piece. I incorporate proven techniques by the Gottmans and Dr. Sue Johnson into our sessions together so that couples can go home and apply the information learned in the sessions immediately.

Couples Counseling can help with the following challenges:

  • Communication problems
  • Intimacy issues
  • Unresolved conflicts or issues with conflict resolution
  • Infidelity or trust issues
  • Threatening Divorce or break-up
  • Problem avoidance via the “Silent Treatment”
  • Lack of quality time
  • Parenting challenges
  • Difficult extended family relationships
  • Emotional distance
  • Relationship transitions
  • Premarital counseling
  • Relationship dissolution
  • Amicable co-parenting during and after divorce
